Baidu – Bull and Bear

I am still long, just a lot less than a few months ago. In th long-term scheme of things, a 60 percent share of the Chinese search market is not something that anyone can value.

Here are two updated opinions:

Bullish

Bearish . Damn Eddy!

Here’s Wallstrip’s great first show on Baidu. I think we nailed it.

Front Running My Baidu $200 Sell

Selling a little more Baidu in the $193 area now. Close enough to $200 for me. Keeping my final 1/3rd and my stop is waaaaay down in the $130’s but climbing fast, so I imagine I will own iit for a long while. Will revisit at $130 or $300.

Going to take the profits and add some gold stocks, semiconductors and porn (RICK).

May add some Altria here as the dog of Wallstrip. My portfolio is lacking a death edge.

Disclosre – Long BIDU, many gold stocks, RICK, ASX, NVDA

Baidu $150…$200 Countdown Begins

It’s not bragging, I just feel it.

If not, I own Smith and Wesson that goes up every day as well.

My Favorite Trends NOW…GPS, OIL, SEARCH, SPEECH

So many Wallstrip stocks are kicking ass, but there are some I am still buying and looking to add on weakness.

Nuance (NUAN – Voice Recognition ) scored a Verizon deal today and is hitting $18. I added some more shares today. I have owned the stock for over two years and it looks much higher to me.

OIL – Talked about it in my last post. Demand does not seem to be slowing down and shit – buy a Toyota Scion if you are so concerned.

GPS – Garmin and Navteq continue to be my fave owns. Garmin is slowly emerging as the dominant consumer product. It’s still early, but still volatile. Both these stocks have been long time holdings and NavTeq is almost Wallstrip worthy if not for blowing up 8 months ago. It is come back play.

SEARCH – After buying Google at $515, I am now finally long Google again. Baidu is probably my favorite stock in my portfolio now and just keeps hopping. Too much open field for the leaders despite the valuation and execution concerns.

All these stocks are highly volatile and could drop 20-30 percent in a heartbeat. That would not stop the positive trends so if you are buying today, factor those type of drops into your money management thinking.

I will update 30-40 more in the coming week.

I need to have a watchlist of all the Wallstrip stocks and am working on that for the Wallstrip/ MyTrade page .

Google – The Googster does not Disappoint

I own Choogle, my new name for Baidu, the Chinese Google.

Both Google and Choogle (Baidu) are now closing at all-time highs today.

Both are like thoroughbreds of the stock market. They see an all-time high and they take it.

I know this won’t last sdo might as well enjoy it while it’s happening.

Disclosure – Long Baidu. May (I should) buy Google at close.

PS – Amazon up another 5 percent so will sell 1/2 my position and switch it into Google

New Disclosure – Long Amazon, Google, Choogle and Baiduuuu

China is like CMGI…Except in Chinese!

Lord knows what that really means other than I don’t get it. I don’t want Chinese buildings and machinery, I want their search and ad dollars and brains.

China the market has entered the twilight zone moving 5 percent in an hour. Not for me.

I don’t want to own China. I don’t trust China. I like their food on Sundays, but I am jewish.

I do own Baidu though (BIDU). They don’t ship, package, produce or build. They leverage brains. I imagine it could go to zero, but it’s not.

I don’t think they need to do that well outside China to be worth a bajilliontrillion, but they are trying .

PS – How ‘boot that Amazon printing a $70 handle….sweet. Of course it’s overvalued :) .

Wrong on China, Right on Baidu

Looks like I am wrong on my China top call. I thought the FXI (ETF) peaked a few months ago, but the stock is tracking right back at it’s all-time high.

I have used Baidu (BIDU) as my proxy to invest in China and figured their business model would thrive in a declining China and outperform in a China that keeps chugging.

I may add some more Baidu shares above $135, yes, buying strength.

I still think the FXI is ripe for a big fall, but as it clears all-time highs, I would rather just watch. It could romp 30 percent for all I know. If It does, I would be Baiduing my way to the bank.

Microsoft Yearning for Yahoo to the tune of $50 Billion…Baidu the big winner

MyHoo or YaSoft will be hard to get used too.

Fred Wilson has a map of the new layout . Well done. Except, where is China?

Long-term for investors – Big Woop.

Now there is one stock not worth owing, rather than two.

This will likey mess with Google’s stock price for a while.

I think Baidu in China benefits the most from their clarity of model and attack and leadetship in a key market. Maybe a combined Microsoft/Yahoo now takes a run at Baidu. I will add a few more shares today.

Disclosure – Long Baidu
