Does Anyone Own Nuance (NUAN)?

May just be me, but nobody is talking about voice recognition or Nuance in particular.

Another all-time high today and the DOJ is looking friendly on them. They should because they are a speck compared to IBM and Microsoft.

That can’t last. If I was a start-up in the space, and there are lot’s of them , I would want to sell to Nuance over IBM and Microsoft. Less chance of being miserable and now Nuance has capital to pay cash in the space for the right deals. I really believe a juggernaut is in the making.

Or not!

S.P.E.E.C.H R.E.C.O.G.N.I.T.I.O.N

Nuance reported a few days ago and the stock tanked on news of a convertible, but now is higher.

I don’t necessarily like convertibles and acquisitions, but Nuance is trying to remain the outrght leader in the space.

The acquisition of Tegic from Time Warner seems like a good idea. I have to wonder what the hell Time Warner was doing with a business like this in the first place (text recognition and predictive text). If a management team is capable of good acquisitions (Cisco), over time, you see great results.

I am sticking withe the stock and may add more if/as it moves higher.

I don’t think subprime and housing issues will kill this space.

Speech Recognition Day Tomorrow…Nuance Reports

Nuance reports tomorrow.

It is the best pure play on Speech recognition and they have been executing quite well.

Tomorrow we find out if their acquisition spree is doing well. I am sitting tight. Motley Fools has this piece .

Everyday we move forward is a step closer to better speech recognition products. That’s just good.

My Favorite Trends NOW…GPS, OIL, SEARCH, SPEECH

So many Wallstrip stocks are kicking ass, but there are some I am still buying and looking to add on weakness.

Nuance (NUAN – Voice Recognition ) scored a Verizon deal today and is hitting $18. I added some more shares today. I have owned the stock for over two years and it looks much higher to me.

OIL – Talked about it in my last post. Demand does not seem to be slowing down and shit – buy a Toyota Scion if you are so concerned.

GPS – Garmin and Navteq continue to be my fave owns. Garmin is slowly emerging as the dominant consumer product. It’s still early, but still volatile. Both these stocks have been long time holdings and NavTeq is almost Wallstrip worthy if not for blowing up 8 months ago. It is come back play.

SEARCH – After buying Google at $515, I am now finally long Google again. Baidu is probably my favorite stock in my portfolio now and just keeps hopping. Too much open field for the leaders despite the valuation and execution concerns.

All these stocks are highly volatile and could drop 20-30 percent in a heartbeat. That would not stop the positive trends so if you are buying today, factor those type of drops into your money management thinking.

I will update 30-40 more in the coming week.

I need to have a watchlist of all the Wallstrip stocks and am working on that for the Wallstrip/ MyTrade page .

Google and Nuance? No Wonder the Stock has Been Strong.

I love Nuance the stock . It has even been Wallstripped :

Om Malik says Google has launched a free 411 service . Interested to see where all this goes. I think it partially explains the sweet strength in the stock this year. Likely much more to come as the big dogs jockey for space in Voice.

NUANCE (NUAN) – pretty simple

If you owned this stock in 1996 and still own it – you died and your heirs don’t know they own it. So, basically everybody that owns this stock is profitable.

That’s good! That’s what all time highs are. Lot’s of happy profitable shareholders sipping Lattes and counting their money and discussing how smart they are.

All this is true except except the smart part. All good things come to an end.

My gut says this one is just getting started though. I have a gigantic gut these days.

San Jose for the day….AND – ADOBE is poised

Come by and visit Wallstrip – Adam, Eddie and I will be yapping Wallstrip from 1-30 to 3-30 t the San Jose Convention Center from Jeff Pulver’s Network2.tv booth.

Looks like a good day for some of Wallstrip’s tech stocks. Apple launches their TV, Nuance climbs above 15 and Adobe is nipping at all-time highs.

I will add more Adobe if it closes at an all-time high.

Elsewhere – SIGM – which is a chip stock I have since the high teens is testing $30 today and looks poised for big gains. I am not adding because it is a component play and these end badly :) .

Best of all is Fremont (FMT), the sub prime lender which is now back above 10.

Cisco buys WEBX, Lindzon buys Cisco and NUANCE update

I am a Cisco believer and taking some profits from WEBX and buying some Cisco shares.

Scratch the stupid bubble years and this stock really hit all-time highs this year so screw my rules on this one :) . At $25 and change it’s pulled back nicely and offers an entry point I will take for the long-term.

As for Nuance, Om Malik tells me that the Microsoft/Tellme deal is good for Nuance as it means more royalties. I have no idea and have not had time to fact check the details, but I trust his knowledge. This trend is solid.
