My edge from Techmeme looks to be gone. It did not take long. This is internet time.
The New name of Techmeme should be SCAB (Scoble, Calacanis, Arrington and Blodgett), Blodgett being the only one on the list with some previous experience in writing.
One year ago, I felt that Techmeme gave me a little edge in investing in technology and internet. The smartest voices on tech subjects that could give a crap about stock prices.
I loved fading the comments as well. Negative comments meant something interesting was going on and viceversa.
Today, as Dave Winer so eloquently puts it, Techmeme has become a cesspool . Hysterical. I don’t think that’s the case, but he’s a nerd and I am a stock guy. The same loudmouths (Calacanis, Arrington, Scoble) were there when I started reading are still chasing wider fame, but in my eye more diluted than ever now that others get heard. Henry Blodgett is pushing the envellope with deeper analysis of the tech/internet companies from a numbers perspective (good), so I need to lump him in with those Yutz’s AND helps complete the word .
I really like Gabe and I really like Techmeme and I think the SCA in SCAB needs to show way more responsibilty to keep Gabe’s vision from being polluted.
So News Corp is going to pay $60 for Dow Jones – a 50 percent plus premium to the closing price yesterday.
Just a few weeks ago, two ‘A (?)’ list bloggers Scoble and Calacanis were blogging how dead Newspapers were, what is turning out to be the bottom in the stocks. As usual, when the noise in Techmeme and the nerd blogosphere, gets too loud, it pays to fade (do the opposite).
Too much Silicon Valley inbreeding at a time when Silicon Valley means less and less in the Digital World. Great time to read these guys and fade their delusions of grandeur. Old Media continues not to be dead.
This is truly almost as boring as Podtech . It’s definately as ridiculous as blogging . I believe that the Podtech employees and those in the table tennis match do wear the same shorts though. And they prance.
Market sucks. Not the end of the world hopefully for you. Keep things in perspective. It is amazing to me that the market has BARELY burped and the devastation so large. Keep your powder dry.
There just are no new highs to speak of. Was looking at the rapid decline in REITS and in hindsight it looks easy. It is not.
I have some buys tomorrow if we collapse. You should have a list to.
Your daily lullaby is brought to you from Scoble and Pageflakes . He only went 26 minutes here with this Pageflakes company that cures dandruff if you use it as an internet startpage. Do not watch this while driving. Scoble says he is already suing me and I don’t need the extra aggravation. BTW, Scoble is not my type of people so I have banned him. Yes, he is a Lindzon fan , but I never liked him. I gave his book to charity for the deduction.
I recommend all stock bloggers ban somebody from their blog tomorrow. It will be a show of stock blogger solidarity and linkbaiting. Please submit your banning in my comments or on your blog. Let the linkbaiting BEGIN.
TIP – Make sure it is someone with more traffic than you.
Their talent ? has gone on a Wallstrip and Howard Lindzon rampage, calling Wallstrip horrible and me a ‘douchebag’ (o.k. that was funny considering the sources – David CRUD ).
I call it linkbaiting, which is pretty bad, but worse when you don’t even have the courtesy to link.
Robert Scoble wrote a book, that I purchased as goodwill at a Tech Crunch party, called Naked Conversations . Here is one of his books tenets:
Social. The blogosphere is one big conversation. Interesting topical conversations move from site to site, linking to each other. Through blogs, people with shared interests build relationships unrestricted by geographic borders.
UPDATE – Shel Israel Co-Authored this book and wrote this passage. I assume Robert read it though.
His talent? has banned me from their website. It’s the same talent that has attacked me and my projects and linkbaited me. I have never left a harmful message on his site. I don’t read it. I have gone their to pull the links about me to post here.
Here is what I get when I try the site- You Are Banned. You Just Don’t Fit In Here. Now I agree. I don’t fit in with this group of haters. But, if attacked, and baited, I should be able to respond on my blog.
Robert, what gives? This is amateur hour over at Podtech . I guess it’s ok to bully as long as it is not happening to you.
