Is Twitter for Twits?

So far, for the most part yes.

But, three smart people I trust are using it now, Andy Swan , Fred Wilson and Bijan Sabet . I am sure there are others, but those are people I read regularly. Andy was using it months before the nerds caught on.

I am not sure if Andy knew why he liked it, but he liked it. When it caught on in nerdville, I told him to lose the widget. It was now uncool. Since pestering him I have definately followed the conversation. It’s been useless. For the Twits using it, they are still using it wrong. Like I care where Scoble eats. He is eating all day.

The last few weeks I have been thinking it through as it pertains to quality stock market conversation. My concerns are the general message board assholes that would try and get into the braoder conversation that added no value. That looks to be easily overcome.

If I were Twitter , this is where I would start to focus now. I read this post today and James gets it .

To have 30-50 trusted stock minds twittering would be valuable to me. I am away from the market all day. I don’t trade but want to be in the loop. A new blog friend was the first person to call me on CROX’s numbers. I want Andrew on My Stock Twitter Conversation.

Twitter can make me money and now I am interested. I am sure you will tell me that Campfire and AIM will do the trick. Not for me. I hate them both. They may help me make money, but not the community at large in real time. They are also a pain in the ass w.r.t noise.

I will have it up on Wallstrip ASAP and get a MONEY making daily market conversation going. You will be banned if you tell me what or where you are eating, unless it’s FLY . Bannnned!

If you want to be part of the Wallstrip ‘Market Talk’ Twitter Community – please let me know.

Can an unknown be added to the Twitter chatter? If not, I guess I'll have to do what I can to become known...

  • TWITTER THOUGHTS

    Twitter from Andrew:

Freaking out that the rumor of MSFT for YHOO is actually pushing YHOO up $6

Asking, what is going on with this market, is it all related to Sarbanes

Wondering, are we close to a pivotal point like back in the 80s

Wondering why anyone would care about my twitterish thoughts

  • i would love to join, but maybe as a follower rather than you guys friending me. that is - i twitter a bunch of crap (including what i have for dinner sometimes) and i wouldnt want to screw up the signal to noise ratio.

where i could help though is on the technical/social aspects of IT companies. when you examine the numbers as industry analysts we can talk to trends.
  • I'm now addicted to twitter.

    Those guys are smart.

I've been thinking about the idea of setting up groups in twitter. Some of my friends want to hear the latest of everything, like a persistent chat session. Others only want gadget speak.

But I think the best part of twitter is the idea of a lightweight, super simple publishing platform that is 2 way and completely interactive. and it works on every device on the planet for inbound and outbound messaging.

    Long Twitter.

Being ahead of the nerds is not a badge you need my friend.

You are banned though for the eating comment :)

  • Twitter widget is already gone from my blog. I'm eating Chipotles, Qdoba, Buffalo Wild Wings and Panera Bread....because I like the stocks so much and the food keeps my belly padded.

Count me in. I've never been ahead of nerds on something tech before....pumped.
  • Today, I has 12 chicken wings, with a side order of rice and beans.fyi.
