More on Amazon’s Kindle

OK I ordered a few. I expect this to be the real gift that keeps giving of next year.

I just read uber smart Michael Parekh’s post . I like that he agrees with me here.

Amazon is sitting on a goldmine as I said in my last post on Kindle with a storefront in everyone’s briefcase. This product has zero expectations built into the stock. I am not rushing in to buy more stock here (more market related), but I think I will be paying up in the next 12 months and this could put them in a different category long-term.

They finally have a device to help sell more razor blades. Sure, the selections are not perfect or deep enough yet and the design is being mocked, but they are not Apple. I like that they get that.

Apple owns music and laptops and maybe a section of the phone biz and RIMM owns business phones, but everyone reads. If your kid likes to read, you are doing them a disservice to not put literature at their fingertips for $400.

My daughter loves to read and she will freak when she gets it. My son hates to read, but may read more now that he has a cool tool to interact with wirelessly. If he continues to just like to write and misspell like his dad, I will use it.

I am so excited to see my wife Ellen’s reaction as she loves to read. Developing… :)
