I was a stock broker with Pru and sitting at my desk that day. I will never forget it. dumb luck caused me to move all my customers into bonds two weeks earlier but I sat and watched as many of the brokers saw their carriers go down the drain. The horror stories that came to light in the next few days were gut wrenching. The largest broker in the office had wiped out the life savings of many of her friends. A small options margin call one broker was able to get the Admin to carry over from the previous trading day turned into a bottomless seven figure crater. The stories went on and on. It was truely a horrible event for many many people.
