Raoul Pal, Co-Founder and CEO of Real Vision, Joins Me on Panic with Friends to Discuss Blockchain, Asset Allocation, and Harnessing the Power of Your Community (EP.162)

Happy Friday.

I really love my conversations about the markets and global macro with Raoul Pal. They are funny, silly and full of deep insights in how the markets are working.

Today we spent a lot of time on crypto and we agreed that this is a buy the dip environment.

Raoul really got the bug back in December.

We taped this episode back in May so the buy the dip discussion was on point.

I hope you enjoy.

Guest: Raoul Pal

Profile: Co-Founder and CEO of Real Vision

Where to Find Him: LinkedIn, Twitter

What He’s Panicked About: Panic: Hurricanes

Episode Summary:

Raoul Pal leads Real Vision as co-founder and CEO. I’m a big fan and investor in Real Vision — a company with the goal of democratizing the very best of financial intelligence through media and video. Raoul has a history of managing hedge funds, and he was also one of a relatively small number of investors to predict the mortgage crisis of 2008–2009. Basically — he knows his stuff. I’ve also had Raoul on as a past Panic with Friends guest, and I loved getting his insights on the markets and crypto. So I figured it was time to give him another call and chat about what’s been happening in everything from the markets to tech since our last time together. In this episode, Raoul and I talk about the growing blockchain space, decentralization, crypto, the power of Twitter as a community, growing companies like FTX, asset allocation, inflation, and more. Enjoy!

The Takeaway:

There will continue to be opportunities to position your portfolios within tech. The crypto space alone is growing exponentially — 113% a year to be exact. That is double the rate that the internet grew from 1990 to 2000, making it the fastest growing adoption of any technology in recorded history.

Favorite Quote:

“I think the answer to media is community and creating value around that community.”
“You need to engage the communities where they are.”
