Deep Market Thoughts…Buy, Buy, Buy?…or is Long Side the Wrong Side?

Mr. Doug Kass, of Seabreeze Partners and long-time great writer for TheStreet.com is out with a great article covering why he is no longer net short. The media has spun it into Doug calling for a bottom, but if you READ the article , Doug is a long way from being bullish.

I love that Doug Kass is tweeting (thanks PP) as it is a further sign that all the great stock minds that have balls, conviction, a sense of the arts and a touch of class will be using StockTwits as a way to build trust in the new world of money management.

I watched a video of the CNBC goons interviewing the bearish Taleb and Roubini yesterday. It was all Dennnis Kneale and the other ‘talking heads’ could do to mock these two brainiacs and urge them to give the secret one indicator of a turnaround – as if they had one and as if they would buy into the notion of there being a magical indicator. A few months ago I said I was tiring of the Taleb mantra of greatness. Lowering his standards to banter with clowns only hurts his credibility.

Taleb is great because he asks you to think. By going on CNBC he is leaving the world of ‘thinking’ and entering the world of celebrity. I don’t think Taleb is wrong at all, but maybe it’s time for a reprieve.

Many of the stocks that I think should be going down along with the financials, are not and for all the suckiness in consumer spending, some technology stocks are well above their November lows.

I am not in the mood to get very long, but I am in the mood to battle less on the short side for the moment and other than Best Buy will cover my Retail shorts and I have already covered the rest of my Capital One.

As for my sucky oil trade through $USO, I continue to believe that our government should buy all the oil it can with TARP money instead of giving it to shitty bankers. Our dollar will implode once global volatility subsides and therefore, I believe Obama is buying cheap oil with expensive US dollars which would be the presidential trade of the lifetime.
