Within living memory financials were about 10% of the S&P 500. They're headed back there. Meanwhile the rest of the world keeps chugging along.

the bottom cxalling retest shmetest stuff is ridiculous.

I could care less.

also - barrons has been bearish for 10 years with an occasional bullish post. when time puts a bear on the front cover, i may get interested in 'calling' a bottom, not barrons

Good read Howard. Almost everything I read now is an extreme. Accoring to the scribes we're either at the bottom of a channel about to explode or the rim of a (seemingly) bottomless abyss. I think you hit on the sectors that will lead; biotechnology, medical devices, software, energy - I guess the job is figuring out who the next CELG, ISRG, GOOG and FSLR will be.

last week looked like a bottom to me. everyone is out of the market. a bear was on the cover of barrons last week and this week. many positive developments surfaced last week. yes it is scary. but then i am only long gold mining, oil , alt energy. one social networking commany that is about to kick ass. the dow is already down 3000 points from 14500. the bear market is so obvious to everyone. last weeks bottom will be tested sometime out in the future. we.ll see.
