Politics…Focus Your Hate on Stupidity!

There are few people I would actually pay to read in the era of ‘Freetent’. The internet has made it our god given right. I am all for freetent but because of it, the noise ratio has gotten out of hand and it seems like we have all gotten a little lost in our own voices. It’s a dangerous time.
I WOULD pay (I do pay for his books) to read Thomas Friedman. He is uber gifted.
This article was one of my recent faves – ‘Dumb as We Wanna Be ‘
I hate talking taxes and politics, but some things are so absurd that they jump the chasm of which side you are on. There should just be a common sense campaign run by someone.
Here is the free slogan “We promise to NOT be Stupid”
As he points out in his article, Barack Obama – at least for now – is resisting the shameless pandering on the gas tax summer relief.
The whole thing is smoke and mirrors and lies at the heart of our deficit and current financial vulnerabilities.
While all the presidential candidates were railing about lost manufacturing jobs in Ohio, no one noticed that America’s premier solar company, First Solar, from Toledo, Ohio, was opening its newest factory in the former East Germany — 540 high-paying engineering jobs — because Germany has created a booming solar market and America has not.
In 1997, said Resch, America was the leader in solar energy technology, with 40 percent of global solar production. “Last year, we were less than 8 percent, and even most of that was manufacturing for overseas markets.”
The McCain-Clinton proposal is a reminder to me that the biggest energy crisis we have in our country today is the energy to be serious — the energy to do big things in a sustained, focused and intelligent way. We are in the midst of a national political brownout.
I am an entrepreneur and angel investor at my core. It’s the only thing I am almost good at. I worry that what has made America the greatest nation in the world – giving entrepreneurs incentives – is on the way out. When that comes – higher capital gains and dumb policy on innovation (includes protectionist policies) – look out below.
Hang in there on this issue Barack. Show you are not an ass like the other two sellouts.
