Should Apple Buy You Tube? Of Course ! They should have listened to me and already bought RIMM (Blackberry)

Man – I can’t believe that I have not speculated on this before. It makes for such awesome fun to visualize the possibilities.
Doing my late night Techmeme read and see that .
The New York Times has picked up on a GigaOM story (bloggers trump journalists again) that speculates Apple buying YouTube
From the GigaOM post:
In “Why Steve Jobs Should Buy YouTube,” Robert Young suggests that, among its other benefits, an Apple-YouTube pairing would sync up nicely with the video side of Apple’s iPod business. He writes:
It’s not difficult to imagine mass consumers, especially tweens, downloading their playlists of YouTube “video snacks” and viewing them on the go with their video iPods.
And if YouTube is able to secure music videos from the record labels (offering them for free to consumers), not to mention any deals they may have with Hollywood (e.g. NBC), the promotional synergy/loop-back with iTunes (for both music and TV/film content) could be significant.
Far fetched? Sure, especially considering that Apple prides itself on its in-house creativity and is not generally in the habit of making large acquisitions. Tech Trader Daily, a blog run by Barron’s, also questions whether YouTube’s content, which sometimes includes pirated clips, would square with Apple’s “hard-core stance on digital rights.”
Still, given YouTube’s recent move into the music marketing business, it seems a bit less far-fetched today that it did a week ago..
I have thought through Apple buying Rimm and having an iCrack over an iPhone . Tou Tube would complete the trifecta. Hmmm. Works for me. There are smart people steering YouTube in the direction so they are better positioned to be gobbled. that is my take. Some smart VC’s smell a huge payday. If not now, an IPO for sure and a higher price to be paid later.
After Apple does the heavy lifting buying Crackberry maker RIMM and video behemoth YouTube, Jobs can retire when Google takes them all out in 2010.
